Police patrol Lanarkshire parks over anti-social dirt bikers

Police have been patrolling parkland areas in Blantyre in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour caused by scrambler bikes.

Local community officers have teamed up with South Lanarkshire Council in recent days and have been covering McNulty Park/Stonefield Park, the playing fields next to the TACT Hall and the Priory Playing Pitches.

There areas have all recently been reported to police as places where scrambler type bikes are being ridden, tearing up the grassland, causing noise and upsetting the local community.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "Not only is this against the law but it is incredibly dangerous for other members of the public, children and pets who use the areas.

"If you witness anti-social behaviour or illegal activity happening in your local area, please contact 101 or 999 in an emergency.

"Remember, if you see us on patrol, we're happy to stop and have a chat about your community."
