Police operation at Warabrook: one person arrested

Newcastle Herald can confirm at least one person has been arrested at the scene

AN EARLY-MORNING police operation at Warabrook caused delays on Hunter Line trains on Tuesday.

Police are yet to release official details about the incident on September 24, but Newcastle Herald can confirm several officers were sent to the scene and at least one person was arrested according to a spokesman for NSW Police.

Commuters were asked to allow plenty of extra travel time if heading through the area. The police operation impacted the section of train line between Sandgate and Waratah stations.

Trains were initially unable to proceed through the affected area when the operation was under way at 6am, but services have since resumed.

Trips were expected to take longer than usual. No further details are available at this time.

This story will be updated as more details are released publicly.
