Police seize car after driver 'commits a number of offences'

Officers have seized a vehicle after a driver failed to stop in Bristol.

The driver was found to be committing a number of offences when NPT officers stopped them in Hartcliffe yesterday morning.

On closer inspection, officers found the person was driving without a seatbelt, with no insurance and driving at excess speed.

Police confirmed the vehicle was seized and enquiries are ongoing.

The police have powers to immediately seize, vehicles that are detected as being driven by drivers without insurance or a valid licence, and for the vehicle to be removed, released or disposed of according to the Avon and Somerset Police website.

According to the Avon and Somerset Police website, you are legally required to go to the pound within seven working days of the date of the seizure notice or notice letter to reclaim your vehicle.

Police keep the vehicle in their possession for a total of 14 days.
