A police officer was run over by a driver before a high-speed motorway chase for 80 miles. The 140mph driver was stopped using 'tactics' and then arrested, Lancashire Police said.
The driver ran over an officer near Blackpool, Merseyside Police's Roads Policing Unit tweeted at 7.30am today (November 12). The car was then pursued by the force, as well as North West Motorway Police, Lancashire Police's Tactical Operations division and Cheshire Police's Roads and Crime unit.
The driver was eventually stopped at junction 16 of the M6 in Stoke, according to the tweet. Lancashire Road Police added that speeds of up to 140mph were reached during the pursuit overnight on Friday.

The driver was arrested for wounding and dangerous driving. The officer suffered minor injuries, Lancashire Police added.
Lancashire Road Police said: "Citroen which ran over Police Officer on M55 Kirkham pursued through neighbouring forces at up to 140mph before being stopped using TPAC Tactics at Junc 16 M6.
"Driver arrested for wounding and dangerous driving. Thankfully the officer only has minor injuries."
