A police officer was hospitalised after being attacked by a suspected drug dealer during a chase.
The suspected dealer fled on foot after officers on patrol saw a suspected drug transaction in the Birkenhead area.
At around 8pm, officers on patrol in Church Road, Tranmere, saw a suspected drug transaction on a footpath close to the Co-op supermarket.
A man ran away and following a chase and repeated attempts to resist arrest - including assaulting an officer - he was detained. The officer suffered an elbow injury and was treated at hospital.

Suspected drugs, cash and other items were seized.
A 30-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply heroin, and cocaine; assault by beating of an emergency worker; and resisting arrest. He was taken to a police station for questioning and remains in custody.
