Police officer charged with drink-driving after crash

An off-duty police officer has been charged with high-range drink-driving following a crash at Lake Macquarie.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie highway patrol attended Goodwins Road, Morisset, about 8.40pm on Monday after reports of a single-vehicle crash.

The driver - an off-duty senior constable attached to a specialist command - allegedly refused a roadside breath test and was arrested.

The 43-year-old woman was taken to Toronto Police Station, where she underwent a breath analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.208 - more than four times the legal limit.

The officer was issued a court attendance notice for refusing or failing to submit to a breath test and driving with high-range PCA.

She is due to appear at Toronto Local Court on May 16.

Her licence has also been suspended.
