Police offer huge cash reward for help in finding missing Constance Marten and new-born baby

Police are offering a £10,000 reward for help in tracking down the whereabouts of missing aristocrat Constance Marten, her convicted sex offender partner and their newborn baby.

The couple and their baby were last seen in Newhaven, East Sussex, on January 9. Whilst there has been no confirmed sightings since, the family are still believed to be in the UK.

Metropolitan Police said they believe the family have been sleeping rough after buying camping equipment from an Argos store in east London on January 7.

Constance, who is from a wealthy land-owning family with links to the Royal Family, disappeared with her newborn baby boy and partner Mark Gordon on January 5. The pair abandoned their burning car on the hard shoulder after it broke down near junction 4 of the M61, at Farnworth in Bolton.

Police said they are 'extremely concerned' for Constance, 35, and the baby - who is not believed to have been seen by a doctor since being born.

Metropolitan Police today (January 31) announced a £10,000 reward is being offered for anyone with information that can help police track them down.

Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford, who is leading the investigation, said: “We continue to be extremely concerned about the health and wellbeing of the newborn baby, which has had no medical care and has been on the move, and possibly exposed to sub-zero temperatures, for almost a month now.

“We’re also concerned for the welfare of Constance and Mark because our enquiries suggest that they were constantly moving and awake for at least a few days – which must be especially draining on someone who had recently given birth with no medical attention.

“Finding the baby is our top priority and we are now offering a £10,000 reward to anyone who provides information which leads to them being found.”

Anyone who has information on the family’s whereabouts should call the incident room on 020 7175 0785. Alternatively, information can be reported anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
