Police offer $1m reward for information on killing of Melbourne socialite Jeanette Moss

Victoria Police is offering a $1 million reward for information about the suspicious death of Melbourne socialite Jeanette Moss.

Ms Moss's body was found by a neighbour in her Middle Park home on January 15, 2014, but police and a coronial inquest have been unable to determine who killed her.

The coronial inquest found neck compression was the cause of her death.

On the morning of January 14, Ms Moss was running errands in her green 1997 BMW sedan in her local area and went to a pharmacy in Port Melbourne with a friend.

It is unknown what happened when she returned home, but the coronial inquest determined she likely died that day between 12:47pm and 2:52pm.

Police released new images of Ms Moss's apartment as it was when her body was found.

A photo of the bedroom showed blood on the sheets and floor.

There were no signs of forced entry to her apartment, and two empty beer stubbies were found, inquest documents say.

A half empty bottle of wine was on the kitchen bench and two wine glasses in the dishwasher.

Victoria Police said the Director of Public Prosecutions would consider indemnifying those who came forward with information about the identity of the person or people who killed Ms Moss.

The reward for information leading to the conviction of anyone responsible for Ms Moss's death would be paid at the discretion of the Chief Commissioner of Police, Victoria Police said.

Detective Acting Inspector Paul Scarlett said he hoped the reward would help police find new leads.

"This was a brutal crime involving a vulnerable member of the community, alone in her own home," he said.

"Jeanette was a much-loved mother and grandmother, who is still very much missed by her family."

He said police were investigating if the killer was someone known to Ms Moss, given there were no signs of forced entry or disturbance in the apartment.

"Hopefully this reward and public appeal provides the motivation for someone to come forward after all these years who can help us solve Jeanette's murder."

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online.
