A man is in police custody after allegedly refusing to leave a South Gladstone motel, where a woman was believed to be inside with him.

Officers were called to the Toolooa Street complex just after 1am on Sunday in relation to ongoing investigations.

In a statement, a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the man allegedly made threats to harm police.

Police said around 10:30am that the man had been taken into custody.

No injuries were reported.
