Police name tragic young man who died after crashing on Ayrshire street

Police have today named a man that was killed on an Ayrshire road.

Joshua Crawford suffered severe injuries after the vehicle he was driving crashed on Ardrossan's Lawson Drive on Tuesday, June 28 at 7.50pm.

The 27-year-old was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital before being transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he later died.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Heartfelt tributes have since been paid to tragic Joshua, with many taking to social media to pay their respects.

Darren White and Carly Kennedy said: "I'm sure the 3 towns are all absolutely devastated to hear the news of wee Josh Crawford, he fought hard for his life after a tragic accident but unfortunately he passed away.

"Anyone who knew wee Josh knows what a character he was, he always had a smile on his face, never passing anyone he knew.

"A very much loved wee guy, who would do anything for anyone."

Eamon Mcnamee wrote: "A smile that lit up his face and time to talk to everyone a wee legend that’ll be sorely missed".

Janice Morgan commented: "Your light will always shine on Lawson Drive Josh.....RIP and fly high".

Marissa and William Muir added: "RIP josh such a lovely lad".

Ayrshire Road Policing Sergeant Craig Beaver said: "My thoughts go out to Joshua’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

"It’s vital we piece together exactly what happened in the lead up to this crash and I would appeal for anyone with information to contact us.

"Likewise, anyone who was in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage should also get in touch.”
