Police name suspect after Lexus car stolen in house burglary

Police have named a man who is suspected of stealing a car from a home in Liverpool.

Thomas Asad Wong Kelly has been charged with burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving. The 30-year-old is also accused of driving without insurance or a licence, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, and possession of a controlled Class B drug.

On Monday, April 4, after officers spotted a man driving a Lexus, suspected of being stolen, in Liverpool city centre. Detectives stopped the car and found it had been taken during a house burglary in Cressington, days earlier.

A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "Detectives have arrested and charged a Liverpool man with burglary and a number of other offences. On Monday 4 April, officers noticed a Lexus in Liverpool city centre suspected of being stolen, and prevented it from being driven away. The stolen car had been taken during a house burglary in Cressington several days earlier.

"Thomas Asad Wong Kelly, 30 years, of no fixed abode, has been charged with burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, driving without insurance or a licence, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, and possession of a controlled Class B drug. Kelly remains in custody and will appear at Wirral Magistrates Remand Court today, Wednesday 6 March."
