Police investigating the death of a woman in Rotherham have named her as Joanne Ward and asked for anyone who knew her to contact them.
South Yorkshire police said they were called to an address in the town at 5.53pm on Friday 21 June.
It followed reports of a woman seriously injured at the property. Despite the efforts of medical personnel the woman died at scene, police said.
Laurence Ward, 57, was arrested and charged with murder. He appeared at Sheffield crown court on Wednesday where he was remanded into custody.
On Thursday, police named Joanne Ward, 53, as the victim and released an image of her. They also made an appeal for family or friends to make contact with them.
DI Simon Cartwright, the senior investigating officer on the case, said: “Our inquiries into Joanne Ward’s tragic death are continuing at pace and I am now directly appealing to members of Joanne’s family, or anyone who personally knew her, to get in touch with us.

Laurence Ward is due to next appear at Sheffield crown court on 6 September.
