Police mock driver after 40 second pursuit ends in crash

Police have mocked a driver who "ran out of talent" after a car chase.

Officers were involved in a short pursuit close to Manchester airport after they attempted to carry out a stop check overnight. They were patrolling when they spotted a silver Volkswagen Golf.

However the Golf's driver tried to escape officers and refused to pull over when asked by police. Officers started to chase the driver but it come to an abrupt end when the driver of the Golf crashed after 40 seconds.

Images from the scene show the car with damage to the left-hand-side, while a front tyre appears to have burst. After speaking to the driver, officers learned he should never have been behind wheel, the MEN reports.

The motorist was arrested for driving without a licence, driving without insurance, careless driving and failing to stop. It was the second car the team had stopped in quick succession, after earlier pulling over a black BMW which was driven by a disqualified driver.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Officers from GMP Transport Unit were out on patrol in the Wythenshawe area this evening. Firstly, officers stopped a vehicle containing a disqualified driver who was arrested.

"Shortly after, officers spot another vehicle at the border with the airport whereby the driver decides not to stop when requested. A 40 second pursuit ensues before the driver ran out of talent and crashed his car.

"Another person arrested for driving without a licence, without insurance, careless driving and fail to stop!"
