A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. On Wednesday night (February 15) police were called to a home in Whalley Range regarding the concern for welfare of a man.
According to police the 32-year-old man was severely injured at another property in Bolton, and then made his way to his house in Whalley Range where he lived and called for help.
He was at a house on Cherry Tree Way in Horwich when he suffered injuries, police say. A 52-year-old man was arrested this morning (February 16) on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in police custody.
The injured man is currently in hospital and investigations continue. A specialist search unit was seen on Poplar Street in Horwich this afternoon (February 16) where a cordon was in place.
CSI and detectives were also on the scene as officers conducted a search at a house on the street and worried residents told the MEN that there had been an ‘issue’ over the weekend and police were called.
Speaking to the MEN, a neighbour living in Poplar Avenue said: “We’ve just heard rumours. There was an issue at the weekend with them kicking off in the street and police came then.
"I hope nobody’s hurt or died. That’s the main thing. It’s got to be serious if the specialist search unit are here. You’re treading on eggshells with letting your kids out. It’s just getting worse.”
A spokesperson for GMP said: “At around 11:40pm yesterday evening (Wednesday 15 February 2023), officers were called to a concern for welfare of a male at a property in Whalley Range.
“Emergency services attended the victim’s property, and he was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Initial enquiries suggest that the 32-year-old male victim was at a property on Cherry Tree Way in Horwich, Bolton when the man sustained serious injuries.
“The man then travelled to his home address in Whalley Range where he subsequently called for emergency services. A 52-year-old man was arrested this morning (Thursday 16 February 2023) on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody for further questioning.
“Detective Inspector Stuart Woodhead of GMP’s Bolton district said: “I would firstly like to reassure members of the public that this an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the general public.
“The victim is receiving treatment for his injuries and remains in hospital under observation from medical professionals. We are investigating all lines of enquiry to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and how exactly he sustained his injuries.
