Avon and Somerset Police has confirmed that the young person who was observed roaming about Portishead this morning (December 19) in her pyjamas has been identified. The child is believed to be around six years old and sightings of her sparked concerns.
As reported earlier, the girl was seen wearing red pyjamas, a purple dressing gown and slippers, and clutching a teddy bear when she was spotted on The Finches walking on her own. Police then made a public appeal to try to find the child.
Officers have now visited the girl's home and spoke with her father. As a result, the force is no longer concerned for the girl's welfare.

Detective Inspector Andrew Greaves said: “I’d like to thank the member of the public who contacted us after seeing the girl this morning.
“At the time, we were concerned for her safety but having now established who she is and the reason why she was out in her pyjamas, we are satisfied there is nothing to worry about.”
