Police launch urgent search for missing woman and her dog who vanished on walk

Police have launched an urgent missing person investigation to find a woman who disappeared while out walking her dog.

Ausra Plugiene vanished on Tuesday in Snowdonia, north west Wales, the Mirror reports.

Neither the 56-year-old or her dog returned home yesterday morning and police have now organised a hunt for the pair.

The coastguard rescue helicopter was spotted above Eryri sweeping the area this morning.

Police have asked local residents to remain vigilant while the search is ongoing.

According to locals on Facebook, Ausra parked her call in the village of Rowen.

The national park is now being searched as a plea for information was made.

Police have also released pictures of Ms Plungiene as they say they are growing increasingly concerned for her safety.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: "Concerns for Ausra Plungiene, 56 yrs, who went walking with her dog in Snowdonia, 11th April and is now missing.

"Any sightings/information please ring NWP on 101 quoting incident no A052734."
