Victoria Police have arrested a 45-year-old man after a woman‘s body was found inside a waste management facility in the Melbourne suburb of Epping.
Authorities confirmed they arrested a 45-year-old Coolaroo man in Glenroy on Tuesday morning.
Police believe that the pair were known to each other. No charges have yet been laid.
On Wednesday, 3 July, staff at Cooper Street Waste Management Facility alerted police after they located a body while moving green waste.
Although the woman has yet to be formally identified, homicide detectives believe the body belongs to a 64-year-old Coolaroo woman.
They have also traced the bin’s original location to a home in Coolaroo.
Police believe the woman was inside a bin that was picked up in Coolaroo on 2 July.

A significant CCTV canvas of the Coolaroo area is underway, and police are keen to speak to anyone who has CCTV or dash-cam, particularly between 23 June and 2 July.

The circumstances around the death are being treated as “highly suspicious” by Victoria Police.
“Investigators believe the woman was inside a bin that was picked up outside a property in Coolaroo on Tuesday 2 July and then conveyed to the Epping facility,” police said in a statement.
“A significant CCTV canvas of the Coolaroo area is underway and police are keen to speak to anyone who may have CCTV or dash-cam footage, particularly between Sunday 23 June and Tuesday 2 July.”
