An investigation has been launched after a driver fled the scene of a crash in East Kilbride on Friday.
Emergency services attended the two-car crash on Blackbraes Road in Calderwood, near to the Buchandyke filling station, with one casualty taken to hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.
Drivers were faced with delays in the Maxwellton Road area as a result on the crash as the road was blocked off for a period.
One witness posted online: "It was bad.
"I drove past before police were even there and a woman injured. When drove past again she was getting taken away in an ambulance, her car pretty smashed up."
Another wrote: "I've driven by to get home and it’s really bad one car is totalled."
A Police Scotland source told Lanarkshire Live : “We were made aware of a crash involving two cars on Blackbraes Road in East Kilbride around 1.30pm on Friday.
“One person was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.
“One of the drivers left the scene before police arrived and enquiries are ongoing.”
