Police have launched a fresh appeal for help in finding missing Finn Creaney a year on from his disappearance. Finn was last seen setting off for a planned walk in Sutherland at around 2.15pm on Friday, March 25 2022.
Despite 'extensive searches' in the months since, the Easter Ross man has never been traced. Finn, 33, was a keen survivalist and logged his experiences on his own YouTube channel WildCat Bushcraft.
Police have now marked the anniversary by urging the public to come forward with any new information which may aid their investigations.
Inspector Chris Murray said: “Finn Creaney has now been missing for a year and we know what a difficult period this has been for his family and friends. Finn was dropped off near to the Caravan Club on the north side of Loch Naver with the intention of walking across country to Golspie.
"Finn had completed many adventures like this previously and the outdoor lifestyle is his passion.
“We know the feeling of concern for him is shared by people across the Highlands and we are grateful to them for their continued support of our enquiries
“Extensive searches and enquiries have been carried out, sadly so far without success, and we will continue to act on any new information received.
"I would thank the public who have already been in touch and also encourage anyone who thinks they may have seen something, or has any information they feel relevant to make contact with us on 101, quoting reference number 0912 of 28 March, 2022.”
In an interview with the Record this week, Finn's wife Lucy vowed to continue the search for her husband in the hope he will one day return home to meet his baby son.
Bran, aged 10 months, was born just a few weeks after his dad disappeared. They also have a daughter, Luna, aged five.
Lucy said: "It is really horrible that Bran has not met his daddy yet. Every small milestone hurts.
"Finn has not been here to see his first smile. I have been taking photographs all along the way so he doesn’t miss anything, but I just want him to come home now and meet his son.
"Luna speaks about her daddy and misses him every single day. I have been honest with her so she knows he is missing and told her that he has not come home yet from one of his adventures.
"She cries for him, but she is a strong child and is coping well. The children need their dad. Finn is a great dad and we all just want him home."
Lucy remains determined to keep up the search for Finn and said getting him home to his children is her only focus.
His family are continuing their efforts to find him and have recently printed out thousands of leaflets while combing through over 2000 images taken by a drone from the area where he vanished.
