Police launch appeal to find elderly Wigan man

Police have asked the public to help them find an elderly man reported missing from Wigan. George, 78, was last seen outside McColls Shop junction of Lady Lane and Clapgate Lane, according to Greater Manchester Police.

He is described as being approximately 5ft 8in tall and of medium build. He has grey thinning hair, stubble on his face and wears glasses. He also has cuts on the back of his hands from recent falls and may appear confused.

George was last seen wearing a lightweight blue jacket and a bobble hat. Officers say they are becoming "increasingly concerned" about George and are keen to make sure he is safe and well.

Anyone with information relating to George's whereabouts is urged to contact police on 0161 856 7032.

In a post on social media, Greater Manchester Police wrote:

"Can you help find George from Winstanley, Wigan? George is 78 years-old and was last seen outside McColls Shop junction of Lady Lane and Clapgate Lane in Wigan.

"Officers are becoming increasingly concerned about George and want to make sure he is safe and well. Anyone with information about George's whereabouts should contact police on 0161 856 7032.

"Always dial 999 in an emergency."
