Police launch appeal after train driver covered in glass following incident on Lanarkshire service

Police are appealing for witnesses after an object was launched at a moving train as it travelled through Cambuslang.

Officers said the object was thrown at the train's window on Tuesday night, causing glass to smash over the driver.

Now the British Transport Police are asking for those with any information to come forward.

A spokesman for the BTP told Lanarkshire Live: "At just before 7pm on Tuesday, the train was travelling by Old Mill Road, when an object was thrown at the side window of the driver’s cab.

"The window smashed and glass covered the driver as a result."

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, or anyone with information that could assist their enquiries.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, can contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 484 of 01/03/22.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
