Police launch appeal after 12-year-old boy vanishes in Essex

Police are appealing to the public for help to locate a 12-year-old boy who vanished in Essex on Monday.

Alfie Cane was last seen by his family at around 3pm in Orsett but hasn’t been heard from for the last two days.

The schoolboy’s worried family, as well as Essex Police, are asking the public to help make sure Alfie can safely return home.

With temperatures plummeting to below zero degrees this week around the area, authorities are appealing for any information that can help them locate the schoolboy.

Officers are specifically asking for people in South Ockenden, Dagenham, Harold Wood and Tilbury to remain extra vigilant, as it’s understood that’s where Cane has connections.

The appeal described Alfie as around 5ft tall and said he was last seen wearing a black jacket and tracksuit bottoms.

He may also be wearing glasses, Essex police confirmed.

"Can you help us find 12-year-old Alfie Cane?” the appeal read.

"He’s gone missing from Orsett and we want to make sure he’s safe as soon as possible. Alfie was last seen by his family at about 3pm in Gowers Lane but hasn’t been seen since.

"He is about 5ft tall, with brown hair, and last known to be wearing a plain black Monterex jacket, plain black Nike tracksuit bottoms, and plain Black Nike trainers. He may also be wearing glasses.”

Essex police also added: "We believe he may be in the South Ockenden area and also has connections to Dagenham, Harold Wood and Tilbury.”

People who believe they may have information that can help locate Alfie are encouraged to contact Essex Police and quote the incident number 781.

The appeal came on the same day as police in Oxford also launched a search, in an unrelated case, for a 14-year-old missing schoolgirl.

Police in Oxfordshire are also appealing for information from people in the Cotswolds after a teenage girl named Chloe disappeared on Monday.
