Police 'knocked over' by man after 'drug transaction'

A 24-year-old man has been charged with assaulting emergency workers and drug offences after an incident near Sefton Park.

In April 2021 a man was seen by officers carrying out a drug transaction near Sefton Park, and while making off he knocked over officers in the process. The man was detained, and following a search of a property officers found a substantial quantity of suspected cannabis.

Malik Murphy-Vaughn, 24, of North Sudley Road, Aigburth has now been charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply class B drugs. He has also been charged with two counts of assault of an emergency worker.

A police spokesman said: "Murphy-Vaughn was arrested and has now been charged with the offences. He will appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on May 18 2022.

"Anyone with information about drug supply or weapons being stored, carried or used in their community is asked to contact @MerPolCC, 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111. Always call 999 if a crime is in progress. "
