The Wirral branch of the Merseyside Police have issued a warning to anybody withdrawing cash from ATMs in the borough.
Incidents of cash machine fraud has increased recently, specifically in the areas of Bromborough, Bebington and Liscard, according to the Wirral police. Wirral police issued the warning on Facebook earlier today, saying: "We are asking people to be extra vigilant when using ATM machines in the Wirral area. There has been an increase in fraudulent activity particularly in the Bromborough, Bebington areas and Liscard areas.
If anyone sees any suspicious devices or individuals around ATM machines to contact Police on Twitter at Merseyside Police Contact Centre or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook or Call 101 or 999 in an emergency."

This comes just days after police reported that they had found a device planted on a cash machine on Teehey Lane, Bebington.
The device, like many others of the kind which the police are warning of, stops money from being dispensed from the cash machine, tricking users into thinking that no money has been withdrawn before they walk away, having unknowingly lost that apparently unwithdrawn money.
