Police issue urgent appeal to find man wanted in connection with theft

Police tracking down a wanted north Manchester man have made an urgent appeal for help from the public.

Officers are searching for Stuart McAinish, from Harpurhey, who is wanted in connection with an incident that took place more than eight months ago.

Greater Manchester Police says its officers want to speak to the 36-year-old about a theft that took place in Sale, Trafford, on June 10 last year.

McAinish has links to Manchester city centre, as well as the Salford and Cheetham Hill areas.

Anyone who sees McAinish or who has information on his whereabouts is being urged to contact GMP as soon as possible.

In a post on Facebook, a GMP Manchester North spokesperson said: "Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace a wanted man from Harpurhey.

"Stuart McAinish is wanted in connection with a theft that took place in Sale on June 10, 2021.

"McAinish is known to have links to the city centre, Cheetham Hill and Salford area of Greater Manchester.

"Anybody with information regarding the whereabouts of Stuart McAinish is asked to contact police on 0161 856 7674 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."

Information can also be passed on to GMP online, using the Live Chat feature on the force's website.
