A man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was found seriously injured at a house in Tameside has been bailed pending further investigation, police have confirmed.
The woman is fighting for her life in hospital following the 'disturbance' on Currier Lane in Ashton-under-Lyne on Monday night (March 13). Police found the 33-year-old inside a property with serious injuries.
Officers 'acted swiftly' to make an arrest and a 39-year-old man was held on suspicion of attempted murder. In an update issued today (Wednesday), a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson confirmed the man had been bailed.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident. Police said previously there was 'no wider threat to the community'.
Locals said police and paramedic vehicles were first spotted on the street at around 5pm on Monday evening. Specialist forensic crime investigation (CSI) teams were among those who responded.

A statement issued yesterday by GMP said: "Officers in Ashton-under-Lyne have acted swiftly to make an arrest after a woman was found with serious injuries inside a property on Currier Lane. A 39-year-old man was located and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, with the investigation ongoing."
