The rider of the motorbike sustained multiple injuries and sadly died a short time later, GMP said. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Images from the scene on Saturday afternoon showed floral tributes left in memory of the victim, who has not been formally named. Dozens of posts were also left on social media paying tribute.
Denton Road remained shut between the junctions with Shepley Road and Stanhope Street for a number of hours as police officers were seen guarding the cordon.
GMP's serious collision unit are now investigating the tragedy. Although the driver of the car remained at the scene to assist officers, the force are still appealing for help with their enquiries.
