Police issue update after road closed by swarm of patrol cars

Merseyside Police have issued a statement after a road was closed by a swarm of patrol cars.

Pictures sent to The ECHO show five police vehicles, four of which were Matrix cars, parked up across Knowsley Road in St Helens at 12.15pm on Tuesday, June 21. Merseyside Police rushed to the scene, near the Vauxhall garage, following reports of a crash.

Once at the scene officers found a Vauxhall Mokka crashed into a parked Hyundai on the road. The driver of the Vauxhall suffered minor injuries in the crash and was rushed to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service to be checked over.

Officers closed the road at the Junction of Rivington Road while the emergency services dealt with the incident. The road was reopened a few hours later.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: "At around 12.15pm today, Tuesday, 21 June, we received a report of a collision on Knowsley Road. The male driver of the Vauxhall is believed to have suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital to be checked over as a precaution."
