A teenager suffered a laceration to the head after a "malicious attack" during Manchester City's match v Liverpool.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has appealed for more information following the incident at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium during the EFL match v Liverpool. Officers received reports of a young girl being wounded by a cup filled with coins during Manchester City's 3-2 win on Thursday, December 22.
Officers in charge of the case believe the cup was thrown from the stadium's upper tier at around 8.25pm. The cup hit and injured a 15-year-old girl causing a one-inch laceration to her head. The girl was taken to hospital where she received medical attention.

No arrests have currently been made in GMP's enquiries - and officers have now appealed to the public for further information to help locate those responsible. A spokesperson for GMP branded the incident a "malicious attack".
Following the match, GMP said they were aware of a "number of objects" being thrown during the match. A 53-year-old man, believed to be a Manchester City fan, was also taken to hospital after being assaulted after the match. Reports also claimed disabled Liverpool supporters were subjected to racial abuse during the fixture, with police launching an investigation into the chants.
The ECHO understands Liverpool chief executive Billy Hogan contacted the family of the teenage girl to apologise for the incident. Both clubs also released a joint statement the day after the match condemning the behaviour.
Superintendent Gareth Parkin, match day commander for GMP, said: "GMP will not tolerate violent or malicious behaviour in any situation, this does NOT exclude football matches or sports games.
"Clearly throwing objects in a confined area can be dangerous and have serious and sometimes devastating consequences. We are continuing to investigate this incident and would urge those who attended the game who know who is responsible or could have any information to assist us further, to please come forward."
