Police will issue a dispersal order in the Trafford area on Saturday following reports of a car meet event that is scheduled to take place.
Officers said the ‘Car Cruise’ event is being advertised online for Saturday evening (July 16) in Trafford Park. Despite the organisers claiming to have permission, police said permission has not been granted for the event to take place and they will impose a Public Spaces Protection order as a precaution.
The protection order, which will be in place in the Trafford Park area, will mean that anyone found driving in convoy, racing, excessively revving engines or performing stunts could be fined.

In addition, police have warned that, in certain circumstances, those found in breach of the order could also have their vehicles seized.
In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “We have been made aware of an online "Car Cruise" event that is being advertised on Facebook Groups for this Saturday (16th July 22) at 7.30pm in the Trafford Park area.
"The advert highlights that the group have permission from the land owner. Please note that no permission has been granted and we advise you not to attend.
“A Public Spaces Protection order remains in place in areas of Trafford Park with conditions such as: Excessive Revving of the engine, Driving in Convoy, Racing, Performing Stunts, Excessive Noise and Danger or risk of injury to road users.
“Those found in breach can be fined and in certain circumstances have their vehicles seized.”
Following GMP’s statement, organisers behind the event claimed they did have permission for the 'Car Cruise' to take place and that it was intended to be a car meet and 'not an illegal street race'. They said they were in discussions with police over the matter. Posting on the Car Cruise UK Facebook page, the post said: "Unfortunately GMP Trafford North have issued a statement regarding our event and have claimed that we do not have permission to use the land."
It added: "We would like to remind everyone that this is an organized STATIC car meet, NOT an illegal street race! Anyone found driving in a reckless or dangerous manner, or racing, will be reported."
Asked for clarification on the situation, a GMP spokesperson said the M.E.N confirmed that organisers had not been given permission from police for the event to take place and the dispersal order will remain in place on the day.
