Police investigation update after man's body found in garden

Police are treating the death of a man whose body was found in a garden as unexplained.

Emergency services were called to Smallridge Close, Pensby, at around 4am on Sunday, March 27 to reports a body had been found in the garden of a house. At the property, police found a man who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two women, both 20 and from Heswall, a 25-year-old man from Eastham, a 23-year-old man from Pensby and a 30-year-old man, from Thingwall, were arrested on suspicion of murder. But Police this morning said all the three men and two women have now been released with no further action.

Detectives have now confirmed that the incident is being treated as an 'unexplained ' and they are no longer looking for anyone in connection with the death. The man's next of kin have been informed and police are liaising with the coroner.

A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "Detectives are completing multiple lines of enquiry after the body of a man was found on Smallridge Close, Pensby on Sunday, 27 March. At this stage, police are treating this incident as a unexplained death and, at this stage of the investigation, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

"The five people arrested at the scene have been released with no further action. The deceased’s next of kin have been informed.

"A file is being prepared for the Coroner. The scene has now been stood down on Smallridge Close and we would like to thank the local community for their patience while the incident was dealt with."
