Police investigating a report of assault in Wallsend have issued the image of a man they would like to trace.
Shortly before 2.10am on Saturday, January 7, it was reported that a 25-year-old woman had been outside of Manhattans bar on High Street West when she was approached by a man who was not known to her.
He has then proceeded to punch the female victim in the back of the head, causing her to fall to the floor. She has suffered bleeding and swelling to her face and nose as a result. The man has then fled the area on foot, and the incident was later reported to police.

An investigation was launched and a number of enquiries have been ongoing since the report was made.
As part of their enquiries, police have today issued an image of a man they would like to speak to.
It is believed that he was in the area at the time of the incident and could have information which assists the investigation.
The man, or anyone who knows him, is asked to contact police using the ‘Tell Us Something’ page on the Northumbria Police website, quoting crime reference number 002258V/23.
