Staff at a medical centre were left "shaken and in distress" after being physically and verbally attacked by a patient.
A patient allegedly assaulted two GPs and a receptionist at the Hickings Lane Medical Centre on Ryecroft Street in Stapleford on the afternoon of March 1.
The practise took to their Facebook to condemn the "saddening" attack, which they said had left their staff "shaken and in distress".
"We are saddened to report that two of our GPs and a member of the reception team were verbally and physically assaulted by a patient this afternoon," the statement said.
"Understandably the staff have been left shaken and in distress.
"The patient in question has been reported to the police.
"The doctors, nurses and staff at HLMC work hard to provide an excellent service to our patients. We are not here to suffer verbal or physical abuse from patients.
"Our staff have the right to be treated with dignity and respect at all times without the risk of threatening behaviour or violence.
"The practice takes a ZERO tolerance approach against any form of abuse. This will simply not be accepted!
"Any patients who use threatening or offensive behaviour, either verbal or physical, in person, online or by telephone, to any member of staff or doctors will be reported and removed from the Practice List."
Nottinghamshire Police are currently investigating the incident but no arrest has yet been made.
Inspector Mike Ebbins, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are investigating an incident of assault that was reported at the Hickings Lane Medical Centre yesterday (Tuesday, March 1) afternoon.
"This kind of violence is utterly unacceptable and we are working to bring the person responsible to justice. We will be meeting with the victims this afternoon (March 2) and our investigation continues.”
When contacted by Nottinghamshire Live the Hickings Lane Medical Centre did not wish to comment.
