Para Hills man charged over alleged early morning assault in Adelaide's Hindley Street

A man is in a serious but stable condition after an alleged assault in Adelaide's nightlife district.

South Australian police were called to The Woolshed on Hindley Street just before 5am on Friday when a man was reported unconscious after an alleged assault.

The victim, a 27-year-old from Seaford Meadows, was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Police arrested a 22-year-old Para Hills man at 10:30am.

He was charged late in the afternoon with assault causing harm.

He was released on police bail to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in February.

Police did not reveal details about the circumstances of how the 27-year-old man was injured.

Hindley Street was closed between Rosina Street and Blyth Street for a period of time but has now reopened.

Police urged anyone with information to contact Crime stoppers on 1800 333 000.
