Police investigating a report of affray in South Tyneside have released an image of a man they would like to trace.

Officers were alerted to an altercation taking place inside The Derby pub on Price Edward Road in South Shields at around 10pm on December 30 last year.

They attended the premises but those involved had already left the scene and no reports outlining any injuries were made to police. An investigation was launched and a number of enquiries have been ongoing.

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and has since been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.

Northumbria Police has today issued an image of a man they would like to speak to. It is believed that he was in the area at the time of the incident and could have information which assists the investigation.

The man, or anyone who knows him, is asked to contact the force using the 'Tell Us Something' page on their website, quoting crime reference number 152847L/22.
