Police are investigating after the windows of a former pub in Gateshead were smashed.

The windows at The Shakespeare on Fife Street in Deckham were broken at some point between 5.30pm on Tuesday evening and 8am on Wednesday morning. An offender is believed to have carried out the damage before leaving the scene.

At least five downstairs windows have now been boarded up at the property.
