A MULTI-AGENCY police operation investigated an apparent preparation for a terrorist gun attack in Scotland.
In a report published by the National Crime Agency (NCA) the force revealed brief details outlining its deployment of specialist resources to help Police Scotland.
The counter-terrorism investigation titled Operation Ferulic focused on Edinburgh between October 2023 and March this year as the report details the NCA’s activities.
The NCA said the investigation, which was led by Police Scotland, was centred on “the apparent preparation for a firearms attack in the Edinburgh area”.
The agency also confirmed it provided forensic psychologists, behavioural investigative advisors, a crime investigation support officer, and interview advisors.
The report does not reveal the outcome of the investigation or whether anyone was charged or arrested.
The force’s Major Crime Investigative Support (MCIS) provided advice and support to Police Scotland on 39 cases and deployed officers on 46 occasions.
These cases included murder, rape, suspicious or unexplained deaths, and missing persons.
