Police say they're infuriated and disappointed with ACT drivers after handing out more than 200 fines in one week of July.
Three fines were handed out to drivers travelling more than 45 kilometres per hour above the posted speed limit.
One of these drivers, who had already had their licence suspended for unpaid fines, was detected travelling at 158kmh on the Monaro Highway in Symonston.
His vehicle was seized, and the driver was issued an Immediate Suspension Notice and a notice to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
ACT road policing officers said they issued 221 infringement notices to road users for a variety of offences in the week to July 27.
On the Saturday evening alone, police issued eight vehicle defect notices and 18 infringements notices in an operation targeting dangerous driving.
A provisional licence holder was detected driving under the influence of alcohol at more than 44kmh above the speed limit, as well as driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.
The driver was immediately suspended from driving for a period of 90 days as well as being given a court attendance notice, police said.
Sergeant Travis Mills from ACT Road Policing said the actions of these drivers were disappointing because "obeying the road rules is easy".
"Not driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is easy," he said.
"It's also easy for police to be infuriated by this selfish and reckless behaviour, because we don't want to see anymore needless trauma on our roads.
"We know the majority of drivers do the right thing, but rest assured - if you disobey the road rules, police will catch you and take appropriate action."
