In a dramatic turn of events, the Metro Nashville Police Department successfully apprehended 30-year-old Tyrone Walker, a fugitive wanted for the murder of 39-year-old Cecil Holmes Jr., who had been on the run for over a year in connection to a crime that occurred in August 2021.
Walker, who had been indicted in April 2023 on charges of first-degree murder and possession of a gun as a felon, had been actively sought by detectives since the indictment. Recent intelligence led detectives to the Edgehill area, where Walker was spotted riding in a gold SUV.
Utilizing a helicopter equipped with night vision technology, law enforcement officers tracked Walker's movements as ground units strategically deployed a spike strip near the exit of a housing development. The subsequent video footage shared by the police department on social media captured the intense pursuit as Walker attempted to evade capture.
As Walker exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, an officer pursued him around a series of buildings before successfully tackling him to the ground. During the apprehension, Walker discarded a pistol with an extended magazine before being taken into custody.
Following his arrest, Walker was processed and booked, with a judge ordering that he be held without bond pending a hearing. Walker's criminal history includes prior convictions for aggravated burglary, theft, and cocaine possession.
Additionally, two other individuals who were accompanying Walker in the vehicle were also arrested due to outstanding probation violation warrants.
The video clip of the operation garnered praise from the community, with individuals commending the Metro Nashville Police Department for their swift and effective actions. Messages of support flooded social media platforms, with users expressing gratitude for the department's dedication and commitment to public safety.
