Emergency services are still at the scene of a two car smash on a busy Hamilton road this morning.

Police raced to Almada Street at its junction with Montrose Crescent during rush hour traffic just after 8.30am on Wednesday.

That followed reports of a car accident.

It is not yet known if anyone has been hurt in the collision, but police are still at the scene some three hours later.

A source told Lanarkshire Live : "It happened on Almada Street at the crossroads junction at Montrose Crescent where there is four sets of lights.

"The police are still there diverting traffic into one lane.

"One of the vehicles is a total mess. It looked like a bad one right enough."

A Police Scotland spokesman told us : “We were made aware of a crash involving two vehicles on Almada Street in Hamilton around 8.35am on Wednesday, May 4.

“Emergency services remain at the scene.”
