Police in Lanarkshire continue enquiries into fatal road accident

Police in Lanarkshire say they are continuing to investigate the cause of a crash in Carfin that killed a man.

We told you yesterday how a 35-year-old man died following a two-vehicle crash on the A723 Carfin to Holytown Link road.

The incident happened just before 6am on Tuesday, April 12 and involved a black Mercedes car and a UPS heavy goods vehicle.

Sadly, the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman told Lanarkshire Live today: "There are no updates at the moment and our enquiries remain ongoing.

"We are appealing for information following the incident and would ask that anyone with any information or dash-cam footage, contact police as soon as possible."

The road was closed in both directions on Tuesday evening, with the nearby Lidl Carfin store closed for the day.

Sergeant John Tait added: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has sadly died in this collision and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“We are appealing for information and I am asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time or who saw what happened or who has dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101.

Information can also be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
