Police hunt for two men after jewellery and money stolen in house break-in

A HUNT has been launched for two men after cash and jewellery were stolen from a house in Bathgate.

Police received reports that a property in the Sylvan Way area had been broken into at around 4.30pm on Saturday.

The family were at home when the incident occurred and a number of items were stolen including both jewellery and money.

Officers have now confirmed their enquiries have established that two men were responsible for the incident.

The men are described as both white with Scottish accents and are around 6ft tall.

Police confirmed that they were last spotted wearing dark clothing with their faces covered.

Detective Constable Emma Thacker of West Lothian CID said: “This break-in occurred while the family were at home and it caused them considerable alarm and upset.

“It’s vital we trace the men responsible, and I am appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious or may have information that could assist with our enquiries to please get in touch.

“In addition, anyone with private CCTV or dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation is also asked to contact us.

“Officers can be contacted via 101, quoting reference 2443 of Saturday, December 30 2023.”

People can also make an anonymous call to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
