Police hunt for slavery and sex criminal released from prison

A man who was jailed in 2016 is wanted by police again for breaching his terms of release.

Steven Walsh was sentenced to seven years for a spate of offences that also included sexual assault. After being released, the 35-year-old is now being hunted by officers again as he's wanted on recall to prison.

Walsh, who has links to Anfield, Norris Green and Huyton, had previously pleaded guilty to modern slavery, two counts of sexual assault, assault with intent to resist arrest and possession of prohibited items in prison.

Following the sentencing, Merseyside Police praised the courage of the victim for their role in supporting the investigation. Detective Chief Inspector Julie Milburn said: “I would like to salute the bravery of the victim in this case. I hope that this sentence will help them in recovering from his crimes."

A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "Have you seen this man? We are appealing for help in finding a man who is wanted on recall to prison. Steven Walsh, 35, is wanted after breaching the terms of his licence.

"He is also wanted in connection to an assault that occurred in Liverpool city centre in March this year. He is described as 5ft 6in tall, with a broad build and blue eyes.

"Walsh has links to Anfield, Norris Green and Huyton. If you see Walsh or hold any information, contact us via @MerPolCC on Twitter, ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook, or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 with reference 23000140340."
