Police hunt for culprit of 'extremely dangerous' firebomb attack at Lanarkshire home

Police are hunting for the culprit of a firebomb attack at a Lanarkshire home.

We told yesterday how a BMW convertible was torched on a driveway on Pallis Crescent in Bothwell shortly before midnight on Friday, June 3.

Cops are treating the incident as deliberate, calling it an "extremely dangerous act".

The car quickly became engulfed in flames as panicked neighbours could only watch on as fire crews raced to the scene.

One appliance was used to extinguish the fire before it was able to spread elsewhere, and there were no reported injuries.

Police in Lanarkshire are now appealing for information over the attack.

Detective Constable Graeme Easton told Lanarkshire Live : “No one was hurt but this was an extremely dangerous act and it’s vital we trace the person responsible.

“I’m appealing for anyone who saw what happened or who has any information about the fire to contact police. I would also urge anyone with CCTV or dash-cam footage of the area at the time to get in touch.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman told us yesterday: "We were alerted at 11.43pm on Friday, June 3 to reports of a car fire at Pailis Crescent, Bothwell.

"Operations Control mobilised one appliance to the scene to extinguish the fire and make the area safe.

"There were no reported casualties."

Anyone with information or footage can contact Police Scotland on 101.

Information can also be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
