
A woman has been killed in a hit-and-run crash near a school in north west London
Police are searching for the driver of the car which was found abandoned a short time later.
According to reports, the smash was witnessed by children and parents in Graeme Park Way, Colindale just after 3pm on Tuesday.
The motorist and the vehicle’s occupants had already driven away from Metropolitan Police officers prior to the collision.
Paramedics and an air ambulance were scrambled to the scene but despite desperate attempts to save her, she was declared dead.
A force spokesman said: “Shortly before 3.10pm on Tuesday, March 25 a car was in collision with a female pedestrian in Graeme Park Way, NW9.
“The car had driven away from a police vehicle prior to the collision taking place.
“Officers provided treatment to the woman prior to the arrival of London Ambulance Service. However, despite the efforts of the emergency services the woman died at the scene.
“Road closures remain in in place.

“The car did not stop but was found abandoned a short time later. Work is ongoing to locate the occupants of the car.
“There has been no arrests and enquiries continue.”
London Ambulance Service added: “We were called at 3.08pm today (March 25) to reports of a road traffic collision on Grahame Park Way, NW9.
“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic, a clinical team manager and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.”
