Police hunt convict who failed to return to prison after day release in Bristol

Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for help in locating the whereabouts of criminal Sean Phipps who has failed to return to prison following a period out of jail on day release in Bristol.

The police put out the request on social media stating that if you see him, not to approach him but to call 999 straight away. The 51-year-old convict failed to return to HMP Leyhill on Wednesday, June 1, having spent time outside on day release in Bristol.

Phipps is described as white, 6ft 2in tall, and at the time of his disappearance was wearing a black coat over a blue top, blue jeans and brown Timberland boots. He was also wearing a Casio watch and blue glasses and carried a vape pen with him.

Officers issued the plea on Facebook and Twitter and asked members of public who may have information or may have seen him to contact them on 999 or 101, quoting reference 5222130002.

HM Prison Leyhill is a Category D men's prison, in Tortworth, Gloucestershire, and is operated by the HMP Service.
