A police helicopter was called during a dramatic car chase. Officers were involved in "three pursuits in close succession" last Friday evening in Cardiff.
The South Wales Police roads policing unit said those being pursued were "changing cars, changing multiple number plates, trying to outsmart us" — but they "ran out of luck" after switching to a third car. Police used a 'stinger' device to deflate the vehicle's tyres at about 8.40pm on Thornhill Road.
Daniel Gordon, 34, from Barry, appeared at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on Monday and pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving while disqualified and without insurance, and using a fraudulent registration mark. And Dylan Cuddy, 22, from Grangetown, admitted dangerous driving, failing to stop, aggravated vehicle-taking, theft of a vehicle, and driving while disqualified and without insurance.
Both are due to be sentenced on June 6 at the same court. The intelligence-led operation included officers from South Wales Police, Gwent Police and the National Police Air Service. "We will work without borders to relentlessly tackle criminals and deny them the use of the roads," said the South Wales Police roads policing unit.
