The police helicopter was deployed in a bid to foil a suspected metal theft at a Mansfield industrial estate. Officers were alerted to the potential theft after a vehicle was reportedly spotted on fake plates.
Police say the car was seen entering an industrial estate slowly. It then left the compound.
The National Police Air Service helicopter was deployed and the vehicle later located on the A616. Police caught up with it at around 8pm on Thursday (June 30), but say the motorist did not stop when requested.

The police stinger was used to bring the car to a stop. Two occupants were arrested a short time later after the vehicle entered a field a Newark.
The car was located and searched by officers. They say it was found to contain tools.
A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving while disqualified, going equipped for theft, theft of a motor vehicle and criminal damage. While a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.
Chief Inspector Heather Maelor, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a great bit of work by officers which really highlights just how seriously we treat rural crime. It also shows how we will always do everything we can to prevent crimes from happening in the first place, protect our rural communities and take positive enforcement action to crack down on this sort of criminality.
“We understand the impact rural crime can have on victims and their livelihoods, including landowners and businesses, and I’d like to reassure people that the force, working closely with partners, remains committed to tackling this issue and seeking justice for victims.”
