A police helicopter helped track down a "vulnerable" man after lengthy searches in a Scots town.
Cops in Midlothian had struggled to locate the man following his disappearance in the Gorebridge area and called in aerial support on Sunday. Police Scotland's Air Unit assisted officers on the ground in their bid to trace missing man.
Once in the air, the force chopper was able to locate the man and communicated his whereabouts to local officers. He was traced shortly before 8pm on Sunday.
The helicopter is often called in to support on missing persons searches as their high-tech equipment and night vision capabilities can provide extra help.
An overhead image from the Air Unit's thermal imaging camera showing the man having been traced by officers was shared on Twitter on Sunday.
The specialist team tweeted: "Police Scotland Air Unit assisted Police Scotland Midlothian with a search for a vulnerable male in the Gorebridge area.
"The helicopter quickly located the male and talked local stations on to his location after some lengthy searches. Great teamwork was involved in finding this male."
