Police were forced to close a major motorway this morning following a road rage incident involving a BMW driver.
Two lanes of the M56 were shut between junction 6 for Hale and junction 7 for Bowdon shortly after 10.30am today (Tuesday), causing major disruption to drivers.
Cheshire Police were called to the scene after reports that a BMW driver exited his vehicle and got onto the bonnet of a Kia Niro following an earlier altercation on the nearby A555.

The motorway has since reopened to the public, but officers are said to have remained at the scene - where one man is being treated. The extent of his injuries haven't been confirmed.
An investigation has been launched by police into the shocking incident, with enquiries said to be ongoing at this time.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At around 10.36am today (Tuesday 20 December) police were called following reports of an incident on the M56 westbound between junction 6 and junction 7.
"The incident involved the driver of a BMW, a man, who exited his vehicle and got onto the bonnet of the Kia Niro following an earlier altercation on the A555.
"Officers are currently at the scene and the man is being treated at the scene. Enquiries in relation to this incident are underway."
